Rustam Chsiev, soprannominato “The Russian Bear”, può sembrare un nome poco noto tra gli atleti in rampa di lancio a livello internazionale, ma è riuscito senz’altro a farsi un nome in una certa promotion di tale calibro: la BRAVE CF, la federazione di MMA di proprietà dello Sceicco del Bahrain Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Rustam Chsiev affronterà il nostro connazionale Enrico Cortese nel co-main event di BRAVE CF 52: Bad Blood, card che si terrà a Milano. Sarà il primo evento della collaborazione tra la suddetta promotion e l’italiana The Golden Cage.
In vista di tale incontro, Rustam Chsiev ha accettato di farsi intervistare qui, su FIGHT – The Shield Of Wrestling.

La nostra intervista a Rustam Chsiev
Ciao Rustam e grazie per l’intervista. Come sta procedendo la preparazione in vista del match del 1 agosto?
“La mia preparazione procede bene, tutto procede nel verso giusto. Mi sono preparato abbastanza bene e sono pronto a offrire un grande prestazione.”
Affronterai Enrico Cortese in quello che si può definire uno scontro generazionale, dati i 12 anni di differenza. Che sensazioni hai al riguardo e quali sono le tue sensazioni relativamente all’affrontare il tuo avversario in casa sua?
“Non conosco questo ragazzo, ma penso che dovrebbe prepararsi al meglio. Giocherà in casa, ed è una cosa buona per lui, ma a me non importa dove combatto. Sono sempre pronto.”
Hai avuto modo di studiare il tuo avversario? Cortese ha un background nel Sanda e anche lui predilige le fasi di grappling.
“Ho dato un’occhiata ai suoi incontri e l’ho studiato. Sono sicuro che metteremo su un gran bell’incontro.”
A quasi 36 anni ed una carriera che ti ha dato grandi soddisfazioni, quali sono i tuoi obbiettivi nel prossimo futuro? Tolta la UFC, meta agognata da tutti, preferiresti competere in ONE o in Bellator?
“Sai, a volte dimentico di avere 36 anni. Forse perché mi sento in gran forma.
La BRAVE CF vede un grande leader in Sua Altezza, lo Sceicco Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Lui fa tutto questo perché ama lo sport. Avere un grande leader è il segreto che si cela dietro tutto il successo, il duro lavoro e la dedizione nel dare opportunità ad atleti di tutto il mondo. Per questo lo ringrazio!”

Hello Rustam and thanks for the interview. How is the preparation for your August 1st match going?
“My preparation is good, everything is going. I prepared really well and I’m ready to put on a show.”
You will face Enrico Cortese in what we could call a clash between two generations, given the 12 years of difference between the two of you. Give us your thoughts about this and about the fact that you will face him in his home country.
“I don’t know this kid, but I think he better prepare himself really well. It is good for him because he is fighting at home, but for me it doesn’t matter where I’m fighting! I’m always ready.”
Did you study your opponent? Cortese has a background in Sanda and likes to grapple too.
“I did look to him, and study him. I think we will show good fight and make a show.”
You’re almost 36 and your career had some big highlights. What are your goals for the future? Other than the UFC, where all fighters want to go, would you rather fight in ONE FC or Bellator?
“You know sometimes I forget I’m 36, it’s probably because I feel good.
It is because BRAVE CF has a Great Leader in His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa who is doing it because he loves the sport. Having a great leader is the secret behind all the success and the hard work and dedication towards bringing opportunities to the world. Thank you to him!”
